Leeds Industrial Museum
Temporary Volunteer Placement
My volunteer work within the Leeds Museums & Galleries volunteers group has incredibly rewarding in terms of providing me with both knowledge of exhibition planning and curation, but also a unique insight into the museum and galleries sector.
I hope that my work helping to create the film exhibition at the Industrial Museum will open the door into further opportunities to work within other Leeds based art galleries.
People Speak Up UK
Yearly Volunteer Role (every summer)
As a volunteer for the charity People Speak Up based in Wales every summer, I have helped to organise and oversee community art projects, carrying out photography for the charity and their website.
Meeting so many new people here every year has been so important to me in building my self confidence, increasing my ability to communicate with people of all different age ranges.
Art (painting and drawing) as a hobby!
I love to paint and draw in my spare time, something which I hope to expand on doing after university.
A personal goal of mine would be to pursue this further and undertake lessons in painting, in order to potentially freelance sell artworks of my own one day!
Again, my love of making art has also inspired me in my university designs…
Pop Boutique Leeds
Current Paid Position
My part time retail role working at Pop Boutique, a vintage clothing store in Leeds, has instilled within me a love of (and improve knowledge of) fashion and vintage clothing, whilst also providing me with skills in curation in an exciting and different way!
